4K Laptop: 6 recommended sharp screen notebooks

Laptops with 4K screens offer a super sharp picture. They are particularly popular for applications such as image and video editing and working with tables, because a sharp screen means a good overview. We recommend these six Windows notebooks with 4K displays.

1. Dell XPS 15 9500: Small laptop with great performance

The Dell XPS 15 is a very mobile work machine. This is ensured by the very small bezels of the 15.6-inch screen, a thin design and a weight of around two kilograms. With the appropriate configuration, the Intel Core i7-10750H is responsible for the high performance. Paired with 16 GB of RAM and the Nvidia GeForce GTX 1650 Ti as a graphics card, the laptop copes with computationally intensive tasks such as 4K video editing.

The display offers a practical 16:10 format for documents and a resolution of 3,840 x 2,400 pixels. The brightness is a lush 500 nits and the screen covers 100 percent of the Adobe RGB color space. This can be useful for professional image editing. Windows Hello via IR camera and a fingerprint reader are responsible for security. Modern connectivity is ensured with Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.0. The connections are USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C, 2 x Thunderbolt 3 and a headset port.

2. Dell XPS 17 9700: Noble workhorse with a large display

The Dell XPS 17 9700 is a Windows alternative to the larger MacBook Pro laptops. Thanks to the Nvidia GeForce RTX 2060, it has a higher graphics performance than the 15-inch model, which is also sufficient for some gaming with modern games. The processor is the Intel Core i7-10875H along with 16 GB of RAM, an eight-core chip that has two more cores than the Intel Core i7-10750H in the 15-inch model. The 17-inch display with a resolution of 3,840 x 2,400 pixels emits 500 nits brightly and covers the Adobe RGB color space for image processing.

Four Thunderbolt 3 ports are joined by an SD card reader and a headset port. Wi-Fi 6 ensures a fast internet connection with a suitable router and Bluetooth 5.0 for a stable connection to the headset. An infrared camera allows Windows Hello login and a fingerprint sensor serves as an alternative unlocking method.

3. HP Specter x360 15: Modern 2-in-1 convertible

The HP Specter x360 15 offers a 360 degree rotatable touch screen with a resolution of 3840 x 2160 pixels and a size of 15.6 inches. With 400 nits, it shines bright enough even for shady spots. The laptop can also be operated with a pen that is included in the scope of delivery. The Intel Core i7-1165G7 of the Tiger Lake generation provides a decent performance in this model along with 16 GB of RAM, but the Dell XPS 15 has more computing power. The internal Intel Iris Xe serves as the graphics solution. Fast for internal graphics, but not as fast as the GeForce GTX 1650 Ti.

Modern connectivity is ensured with Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.0. There are 2 x Thunderbolt 3, HDMI 2.0, USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A, a headset port and a microSD card connection. With a weight of 1.92 kilograms, the 2-in-1 is easy to transport.

4. Asus ZenBook Pro Duo: With a second display

Desktop computers have the advantage that you can connect multiple monitors to them. This provides a better overview when working with numerous Internet tabs and documents. The Asus Zenbook Pro Duo compensates for the usual laptop disadvantage with a second display above the keyboard. The 15.6-inch main screen has a resolution of 3,840 x 2,160 pixels and uses high-contrast OLED technology. The second screen has the same pixel density with a resolution of 3,840 x 1,110 pixels, but not the same image quality due to the IPS technology.

The Intel Core i9-9980HK and 32 GB of RAM ensure very high performance. Due to the Nvidia GeForce RTX 2060 graphics card, the laptop is even suitable for gaming, albeit not in 4K resolution. There is Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.0 as well as 2 x USB 3.1 Type-A and 2 x USB 3.1 with Thunderbolt. The keyboard is illuminated for long working nights.

5. Razer Blade Pro 17: Gaming and Productivity Elite

The Razer Blade Pro 17 packs the latest high-performance components in a high-quality, black metal housing. These include the Intel Core i7-10875H, 32 GB of RAM and, above all, the high-end graphics card Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 with a full 16 GB of video memory and more than the desktop counterpart has. The 4K display measures 17.3 inches and offers a touch surface. On top of that, the laptop uses a refresh rate of 120 Hertz, which enables sharp and fluid movement display in games.

Connections are not saved, so there are 3 x USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A, USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C, Thunderbolt 3, a LAN port and HDMI 2.1. The glass touchpad and illuminated keys go without saying. A real “Rien ne va plus” notebook, that is hardly more currently possible. The disadvantage? The battery life of up to six hours is rather limited. And of course: the price!

6. HP Envy 15: Powerful laptop for creative people

The white HP Envy 15 not only looks good, it also offers strong performance. This is ensured by an Intel Core i7-10750H along with 16 GB of RAM and the GeForce RTX 2060 Max-Q graphics card. This is even enough for light gaming. The 15.6-inch display has a resolution of 3,840 x 2,160 pixels and uses high-contrast AMOLED technology. A decent brightness is guaranteed with 400 nits.

On the connection side, 2 x USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-C, HDMI 2.0 and 2 x USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A are offered. A headset connection and a microSD card slot are also on board. Loudspeakers tuned by Bang & Olufsen promise good sound quality. Thanks to Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.0, modern connectivity is ensured. At 2.14 kilograms, the laptop is not too heavy and illuminated keys allow typing in the dark.
