Logitech G610 Software Download. In addition to the G502 gaming mouse and the G633 gaming headset, I’ve also had the pleasure of extensively testing Logitech’s G610 Orion Brown gaming keyboard over the past few weeks. In my review you can find out how the input device fared in my everyday gaming and editing work and whether the keyboard was able to hold its place in front of the keys on my notebook.

No seams, gaps or edges disturb the haptic experience. The G610 is a mechanical gaming keyboard in the budget segment. It measures 153 mm in height, 443.5 mm in length and 34.3 mm in depth. With a fighting weight of 276 grams, it is also a fairly robust piece of hardware. The G610 feels well made at every turn.

The keyboard has a non-slip rubber coating on the underside. The rest of the body of the G610 is made from a single, very strong piece of plastic. No seams, gaps or edges disturb the haptic experience.

Mechanical cherry keys

The keys of the G610 Orion Brown are mechanical Cherry MX switches that have a very pleasant pressure point. Half of the 4 millimeters of key travel is enough to activate a key. With 45 grams of actuation force, you rarely have the feeling of doing sweaty finger workouts.

According to Logitech, the Cherry switches should withstand 50 million keystrokes and, thanks to the light resistance, provide a very pleasant, quiet typing experience. However, I didn’t notice much of the quietness in my test. The keystrokes of the G610 already make a clearly perceptible clicking noise.

Key illumination

By default, the keyboard has a light wave effect. As befits a real gaming keyboard, all keys of the G610 Orion Brown can be illuminated individually and in 4 different brightness levels. Unlike keyboards in the premium segment, Logitech saves on the colors here.

Colorful spectral choreographies in harmony with the appropriate Logitech rodent can only be realized to a limited extent. But the brilliant white keyboard illumination also looks good and supports me more than adequately when typing in the dark.

But there is also a downer with the key illumination. This can only be really individualized with separately downloadable software.

By default, however, the keyboard has a light wave effect that makes it almost useless for writing texts. The optional software thus becomes an absolute necessity for all those who also want to use their keyboard for work.

Key profiles for all games

But once you have installed the software, there are really no limits to the customization options. The program automatically recognizes games that are already installed and creates specific key profiles for them. So you can only highlight the keys in each game that you really need and hide all the others.

Even ready-made game commands, such as pulling out the BFG in Doom, can be practically assigned new key (combinations) in this way. In addition, you can also create and assign entire macros for any game profile.

Of course, the software is not tailored to the G610, but kills several birds with one stone. This is quickly noticed by the fact that, for example, there is talk of “G” keys, which are not on this keyboard at all. Or that there is a color regulator for key illumination, but it has no function on the G610 due to the lack of colors.

Aside from these minor compromises, the G610 Orion Brown really only unfolds its full potential in combination with the Logitech Gaming Software.

Multimedia functions

Another highlight of the G610 Orion Brown are the dedicated multimedia keys on the top right of the keyboard. The operating system volume can be continuously adjusted via a stylish scroll field, or switched off completely. Play/Pause and Stop buttons, as well as Fast-Forward/Rewind buttons control various multimedia player functions.

The Windows key lock button, which can be used to switch the Windows key assignment on and off, is also very practical for gamers.

The Logitech G610 Orion Brown is an affordable yet high-quality desktop keyboard for gamers. The robust and simple workmanship as well as the very pleasant to use buttons make the hardware a real purchase option. If you can get used to a monochrome keyboard lighting and the almost mandatory Logitech gaming software, you will definitely be happy with this keyboard for a long time.
